Unable to Swim

This class would be beneficial for individuals who cannot swim independently and need a flotation device. The equipment needed for participants includes a sponge or foam noodle and a swim cap.

Participants will learn to:
*Float without a flotation device as soon as possible
*Build water confidence
*Open their eyes underwater without fear
*Foster social interaction among peers.

Remove Float Aids

This class is designed for individuals who can float in water and maintain themselves briefly without assistance. The equipment required includes a board, goggles, and a swim cap.

Participants will learn:
*Kicking techniques for the front crawl, breaststroke, and backstroke.
*Basic arm movements for the front crawl, breaststroke, and backstroke.
*Proper breathing techniques specific to each stroke.
*Techniques to sustain prolonged floating without fatigue.

Basic Swimming

This class is beneficial for individuals capable of floating and performing basic techniques of the three main strokes and focuses on enhancing swimming techniques. Participants need a board, goggles, and a swim cap for this class.

Participants will learn:
*Front Crawl, Backstroke, and Breaststroke techniques
*Arm and leg movements
*Proper breathing patterns and positioning
*Introduction to the butterfly stroke

Meet the Swimming Instructors

Charm
My name is Carmelita, but I prefer to be called ‘Charm’. I am from the Philippines and speak fluent English. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2012 and have been a swimming instructor since 2008. I have attended various courses to enhance my skills, particularly for teaching children.
Nicola
My name is Nicola. I am from Serbia and speak fluent English. I graduated from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Pristina and became a Professor of Physical Education. I have played professional water polo, coached a women’s water polo club, and worked as an instructor at a swimming and water polo school.
Emily
I am Emily Scerri, a qualified swimming coach with the Aquatic Sport Association Malta and hold a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sports, Exercise, and Health. Swimming has always been my passion, leading me to pursue it as a career. I have been coaching for 10 years, helping individuals of all ages and abilities reach their goals and enjoy the sport.
Leah
I'm Leah, and am currently in my second year of studying Health and Social Care Management. I have 8 years of experience as a competitive swimmer, including international competitions. In 2019, I became the national open water champion and won the overall Malta-Gozo-Malta race. I currently coach children from diverse backgrounds, aiming to expand my knowledge.
Abigail
My name is Abigail. I am certified as a swimming instructor by Swim England and the local Aquatic Sport Association. I began training in swimming at the age of 6, turning my passion into my career. I have been a swimming instructor for the past 7 years, where I have dedicated myself to teaching and sharing my expertise as a swimming instructor.
Dejan
Hi, I'm Dejan, a qualified swimming instructor and water polo coach with experience across Europe. I've worked with the Maltese water polo National Team and a local club as Head Coach. Fluent in English and Serbian, I also have basic operational knowledge of Maltese, Italian, and French.
Tara
My name is Tara, and I'm fluent in both Maltese and English. I'm currently pursuing my studies in the medical field at the University of Malta. With years of experience competing in swimming at both national and international levels, I’ve also dedicated the past three years to coaching. As a qualified SwimEngland coach, I’m passionate about inspiring others and passing on my love for the sport.
Luca
My name is Luca. I'm currently completing my final year of studying Artificial Intelligence, I have multiple years of competitive swimming experience at both national and international levels. I’ve obtained Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications under SwimEngland. For the past 5 years I have been dedicated to coaching. I am fluent in English, Maltese and Italian.

I'm Erica, a former national gymnast with 18 years of coaching experience in gymnastics and swimming. I'm a proud mother of three, including a national record holder in the 50m butterfly. As a fully qualified instructor, I work with clients from toddlers to teenagers, helping them overcome water fears, improve technique, and enjoy swimming. For me, swimming is a way of life that promotes health and balance.
